untitledIf you read my daily blog you will already know about this product. After trying all the expensive prop coating products we struck the mother lode with this one. The product is Pettit Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier. Available only in a spray can, it is the easiest to use of the bunch. Make sure you have bare metal, clean with a bit of denatured alcohol or acetone and spray on a couple of light coats. This will protect the props (or any other metal) for the season. It will most likely only last one season but for the price I wouldn’t expect any longer than that and the labor cost for applying are negligible.  In fact, every boat that we launch now gets this applied first. From the Pettit site: Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier 1792 provides easy to use aerosol spray protection for bare metals including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, bronze, galvanized steel, and lead. It forms an excellent bond to underwater metals and running gear, and inhibits corrosion on these surfaces. Prop Coat Barnacle Barrier’s smooth, hard surface will self-clean in service, and can be used above or below the waterline. The dried film of Prop Coat contains the highest percentage of pure Zinc.
