I loosely promised movies in this new year so I wanted to test one to see how well it worked. This one is on our main site but I’m not sure many of you have explored the site. This movie is “lapping props”. After having props reconditioned we always lap them to ensure a snug fit on the taper of the shaft. To do this, we apply a lapping compound which basically an abrasive paste to the taper on the shaft. Simply working the prop on the shaft without the key cuts away any minor imperfections and makes a smooth fit. Watch it here.
