Bristol Skiff Rubrails
My chip scrambled on my camera so I have lost the picture of the damage on this boat, but the rubrail had gotten crushed and fallen off the boat. We had our carpenter estimate the cost of fabricating new mahogany parts and found it was a bit cheaper to have the local lumber guys provide us with install-ready parts. With these in hand the project went smoothly and quickly.
Since we were attaching the parts to a fiberglass hull side, we had to pre-drill all the holes. After that it was fairly smooth sailing.
We had to move the boat into our paint booth where we could have a bit of heat to do the varnish work. The varnish work was exquisite. The insurance company who was handling this claim was very impressed and even offered to send more repair work our way. That’s a good ending!
