Mid-Week
Cooler weather prevails albeit the high end of 80’s but not 90’s. We lost half our crew yesterday and today (and maybe all week) to Oxford. I can’t get any photos from over there. Well sometimes John will give me a chip with a bunch of photos with boats I can’t identify or don’t have any information on so primarily the blog just covers what is going on over here.
Kevin is ready to put the barrier coat on the bow thruster tube. He was laying on the final layer of mat yesterday for sealing and fairing.
And over on the Eastbay 43 they should be finished with the exhaust job this morning. Below I have a photo of crush rings. These are used inside the fiberglass elbows. They allow you to really crank down on the hose clamps without crushing (or cracking) the fiberglass tubing.
To get that kind of force (or strength) on a hose clamp, we use t-bolt clamps. In fact they are the only kind of clamp we use on exhaust systems. They are a bit pricey but you don’t have to worry about them.
There are a lot of details that need to be taken care of after a job like this — such as moving equipment back in place that was taken out of the way to make access. There is also a final clean up to be done.
