Another snowy Thursday

Well our wintry mix turned into all snow.  Surrounding areas got much more than us but we did get a couple of inches – enough to make everyone arrive just a bit late for work today. In fact I was the first one here today and to wait for someone else to arrive to assist me into the building. The x-rays from yesterday showed no healing yet and there seemed to be a substantial gap to fill. I can look forward to another 6 weeks of the fashion boot. I had talked about replacing a water tube on a generator in an Eastbay yesterday. Here is the generator with the cover removed. The trouble with a sound shield is that to do anything to the generator you have to remove the cover and although it doesn’t seem like a big deal it takes time to crawl around and remove all the screws. It is sort of like a puzzle as there are certain sequences that have to be followed to remove and reinstall. We are going to attempt to replace the aluminum liner in this Seaward water heater. I had to go through the manufacturer’s rep to contact someone by email. The Seaward website sucks! I am surprised  that a well-known marine company cares so little for their image on the web. I will let you know what (and if) the answer to this question is. The heater itself if very expensive but I assume the major cost is in the stainless steel jacket which is just fine. The bad thing about just leaving my camera for the crew to take photos is that I find a lot of unidentifiable photos on the camera with no idea what they were trying to capture. In the photo below I can only assume what the photo means. If you have fittings that are corroded like this, you definitely have a moisture problem. You should keep an eye on this to make sure it is not a leak and not just condensation. Those who know me know that I am a moderate smoker. It is something I would love to give up – not because it makes me feel bad (it doesn’t) – just because it is not an accepted practice anymore. I have ordered an electronic cigarette which is just a nicotine delivery system which does not create smoke or it’s associated poisons and drawbacks. It does look and feel like a regular cigarette which is what makes me think it will work for me. I’ll update on this experiment every once in a while.
